1. Historic city with a fortress
Sighnaghi is interesting for its houses with balconies and old historical streets, here you will find residential houses of the 19th and 20th centuries, some of which (up to 100 buildings in the city of Sighnaghi itself) have been granted the status of a cultural heritage monument. Of the sights of the city of love, the Sighnaghi Wall attracts special attention, which is one of the greatest monuments of historical importance not only in Kakheti, but also in all of Georgia. It occupies an area of almost 40 hectares, and the length of the wall is up to 4 km. The history of the Sighnaghi Fortress is associated with the name of King Erekle II, the king assigned it the main role in protecting Kiziki from the Leks, Ottoman-Kizilbashi and other enemies. The historic ramparts are equipped with appropriate infrastructure, allowing interested visitors to explore the fortress on foot, enjoying the view of the Alazani Valley and the Caucasus Mountains. From the fortress towers, you can still look down on the city, as visitors did centuries ago.
